Royal Hawaiian Center is a high end retail district in the heart of Waikiki. Strongly connected to their Hawaiian heritage, they also embrance many Japanese traditions, including Fukubukuro. This is a New Year's ritual where shops are filled with "Lucky Bags" containing mystery items customers pay a set price for. Lucky for RHC's clientelle, these bags just might contain anything from a Chanel purse to a  Valentino  dress. With such high end goodies waiting inside, it was only appropriate that their packaging hinted at luxury, while also embracing the beauty that makes this Hawaiian Fukubukuro unique.  Drawing inspiration from a the tropical birds that lend their graceful song to Hawaii's lush forests, we created unique illustrations in sophisticated palettes to invite eager shoppers to try their luck at Royal Hawaiian Center.
